Morris Costumes

Morris Costumes is a family run business that was started in a basement and has grown into one of the largest costumes distributorships in the world.

FOUNDERS

Philip & Amy Morris

Philip and Amy began their career doing traveling ghost shows in the 1940’s. Their shows would sell out within minutes and hundreds would line up outside the theater at the chance to witness the bizarre and unusual. Phil went on to become a circus ringmaster, actor and theatrical producer.

With the collection of costumes they accumulated from their shows and homemade gorillas suits, Philip and Amy started a costume company in the basement of their Charlotte home.

LEGACY

Gorilla Suit Launches a Costume Empire

In 1967 a customer named Roger Patterson bought one of Morris's custom gorilla suits and used the costume to film the famous footage of "Bigfoot" stolling through the woods. That gorilla suit made Big Foot an icon and gave Morris Costumes a place in costume history.

FUTURE

Now Located in a 300,000 Sq. Ft. Distribution Center

The company is run by Phil and Amy's children and grandchildren. Scott Morris and his sister Terri Bate now own the business and have the same drive, passion and dedicaion as their parents.
